Rotary International District 9111 on Tuesday kicked off free cataract surgery outreaches for 1,000 in Lagos and Ogun states.
District Governor, Dr Wole Kukoyi, said the outreaches are held in partnership with Eye Foundation Centre for Prevention of Blindness.
Rotary District 9111 Mission for Vision Planning Committee Chair, Jerry Aigheyisi, said screening would be held in three centres: Lagos January 7, January 21, and January 23, at Rotary Centre in Ikeja.
Screening at Ota, Ogun State, will be held at Eye Foundation Hospital, Ota, on Thursday, January 14, January 16, February 4, 6, 11, 13, 25, and 27.
In Abeokuta, screening will hold at Rotary House on January 14, 28, 30, and February 18 as well as 20, 8 am and 4 pm.
Secretary of the committee, Ayo Dada, said: “The project is about restoring sight and rekindling hope, enhancing dignity, and improving quality of life.’’
He urged patients to avail themselves of the opportunity to get free eye consultation, drugs and treatment.
