The Bauchi State Association Of The Deaf accompanied with Deaf Women Association Of Nigeria paid a congratulatory visit to the newly appointed caretaker chairman of Bauchi local government, Dr Zainab Baba Tanko on her well deserved appointment by Bala Abdulkhadir Mohammed, the Bauchi state governor.
In a congratulatory message delivered by the Patron of Bauchi state Association of the Deaf, Adamu Bala, the group said “We congratulate you on your recently appointment as the caretaker chairman and we equally felicitate with all the appointed caretaker members (councilors) representing each political wards.
“As you have been inaugurated into your offices, we urge you to use this opportunity to prioritize the growth and development of the deaf communities in our local governments.
“It’s our prayer that God will guide and guard you as you will be paddling the affairs of our local government.
The Women leader of Bauchi Association Of The Deaf, Malama Saratu Abdullahi, speaking on behalf of DWAN thanked the caretaker Chairman for agreeing to be their matron and requested the chairman to help them towards their upcoming National DWAN program which will take place on October in Bauchi Local Government.
Abdullahi urged Tanko to involve deaf community in every opportunities available and asked the chairman to commission a temporary office for Bauchi Association Of The Deaf.
The groups appealed Bauchi state governor to give 10% slot to person with disabilities in the next workers recruitment in Bauchi state.
Tanko in her response assured of Bauchi state government’s commitments to persons with disabilities’ welfare and needs and gave out six forms of National Directorate Of Employment (NDE) to the groups.
