The Director General of Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency has donated medical and other relief items to the family of a person with physical disability who lost four kids in the recent landslide tragedy which ravaged parts of the State.

Dr. Janet Ekpenyong, unable to control the emotions broke down in tears during presentation of the items to Ndifreke Sylvester, the bereaved.

The natural disaster occurred on July 11, following torrential downpours in parts of Calabar, the Cross River State capital – leaving in its trail multiple destruction of lives and properties.

The Ndifreke family suffered irreparable losses as the family building in Nasarawa community of Calabar was submerged in the deluge and four kids killed.

The DG who represented the State Governor, Prof Ben Ayade, expressed pain over the colossal damage, saying “the loss is one of the most devastating news that hit here in recent times”.

She promised appropriate medical attention to survivors at the State General Hospital, Calabar, assuring that their welfare will be given priority at all times.

“This is very sad news to behold; waking up to hear of this quantum loss and damages left me devastated. It is not easy to lose a loved one let alone losing four of your children in one day,” Ekpenyong lamented.
