Persons With Disabilities (PWD) in Mushin Local Government, have declared their total support and endorsement for all the candidates of All Progressives Congress (APC) contesting in the 2023 general elections.
Speaking at the celebration of International Day for Persons living With Disabilities, in accordance with the United Nations 1992 promulgation, to promote and celebrate the special people across the globe, the Chairman of the Association in Mushin Local Government – Mr. Kehinde Adubi, endorsed all candidates of the ruling party in Mushin as their choice for the 2023 elections.
Mr. Adubi, affirmed that their support for the APC, is borne out of the support they get from government under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Emmanuel Bamigboye, who has been good to people with disabilities in Mushin Local Government.
He expressed his appreciation to the council boss and his management, for always extending the good hands of welfare and assistance towards his members. He also thanked the APC led government of Mr. Babajide Sanwo – Olu, in Lagos State for the continuity of the legacy established by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, during his tenure as the Governor of Lagos State. He applauded the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA), for the humanitarian services they provide to the PWDs.
He further appealed to his members who have registered and are yet to get their Permanent Voters Cards, to approach INEC office in Mushin and pick voters cards, as it remains the only instrument which can be used to fulfil the promises made and reward for the ruling party which has always supported their course.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture – Barr. Femi Martins, who represented the Executive Governor, encouraged the PWDs not to look down on themselves as they also constitute an important segment of the society. He also appealed to all the guests at the event to mobilise support and vote massively for the APC in the coming general elections.
Secretary to Mushin Local Government, Mrs. Olubunmi Gbadamosi, who represented the Executive Chairman, was elated with the total support of the association for the ruling party. She however asked the members to put their declaration into action by raising up their hands to confirm their support for the statement made by their chairman, who endorsed all APC candidates in the coming election, which they did.
A dance competition was organised for the Persons With Disabilities at the event and winners of first, second and third positions went home with prizes while other participants also got consolation gifts.
The annual celebration of Persons With Disabilities at the local government was initiated in Mushin Local Government, by Hon. Emmanuel Bamigboye in 2018, as the first local government chairman out of the 774 across the country, to celebrate the International Day, in accordance with the United Nations promulgation of 1992. Since then, the chairman has always made provisions for the annual celebration.
The event which took place in the council hall of Mushin Local Government with many guests from across the state with members of cabinet and management of Hon. Bamigboye led government. The theme for this year’s (2022) celebration “Towards full participation of Persons With Disabilities in the forthcoming General Elections next Year 2023” was targeted as positioning members not to only watch events unfold during the election but to also make their votes count.
