To ensure inclusion of persons with disabilities in governance in Nigeria, the Cedar Seed Foundation (CSF) is set to empower youth, women and persons with disabilities in Abuja and Kaduna.

The Disability Inclusion project is organised by CSF in partnership with Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre, PLAC, with funding support from MacArthur Foundation.

The training will equip women, youth and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) with relevant knowledge of their rights as citizens of the country and help them understand the policies and legal frameworks that give them the right to participate in governance and decision-making processes, such as clause 54 of the Electoral Act 2022, which states that persons with disabilities have the right to vote and be voted for into any political office and the discrimination against Persons With Disabilities (Prohibition) Act, 2018.

Through the project, the project team will pay advocacy visits to various stakeholders to ensure inclusion of the vulnerable groups in all government agendas. There will be media campaigns where stakeholders will be reminded on the urgent need to include persons with disabilities in government structures.

The project offers increased participation of women with disabilities in governance and decision-making process, it also ensures that women with disabilities have great ambitions of contesting for political offices.

The participants would also have a voice and hold their government accountable so as to ensure proper implementation of the policies guiding the rights of persons with disabilities.

Through the training, participants will have a positive mindset of enrolling in political parties of their choices and actively involve in politics. Their voices will be amplified to hold government accountable to ensure inclusion and leave no one behind. Through the training, participants will learn to vote for credible leaders into public offices.

Everyone is eligible to participate in the training according to the foundation.

Being inclusive is not an act of charity but a right.
It is our right as PWDs to be involved in what ever activities carried out in our society.

Thank you very much for this great opportunity.
