The National Union of Bauchi State Students (NUBASS) has concluded arrangements for its Back-to-School Support Initiative (BSSI) aimed at supporting students with special needs and promoting inclusive education in the state.
The final planning meeting for the programme was held at the Special Education Centre, Yelwa, and was led by the Chairman of the Central Working Committee, Senator Najib Abdulkarim Hassan.
Also in attendance were the Secretary-General of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Bauchi Axis, members of the NUBASS team, the Principal of the Special Education Centre, Hajiya Jamila, and other senior delegates from the office of the NUBASS National Organising Secretary.
According to the organisers, the initiative is scheduled to take place on June 15, 2026, and is designed to provide educational support materials to students with special needs, encourage learning, and advance inclusive education across the state.
Speaking during the meeting, stakeholders described education as the foundation of societal development and stressed the importance of ensuring that every child, regardless of disability or condition, has access to quality learning opportunities.
The Principal of the Special Education Centre commended the NUBASS leadership and the organising committee for the initiative, describing it as a significant step towards supporting and empowering students with special needs.
