On Thursday, Nigeria’s First Lady and National Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), Senator Oluremi Tinubu, launched the RHI Food Outreach in Ekiti State, distributing essential food items to people with disabilities, widows, special needs schools, and other vulnerable communities in the state.

Senator Tinubu reiterated her commitment to improving the lives of women and vulnerable groups nationwide, underscoring the significance of this initiative. Represented by the Wife of the Vice President and National Vice Chairman of RHI, Hajiya Nana Shettima, the First Lady stated that this event reflects her mission to support food security and empower underserved communities, which are core pillars of her agenda.

She explained that the initiative aligns with the broader goals of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration to alleviate hunger and poverty, especially among Nigeria’s underserved populations. This food outreach program, she noted, symbolizes her dedication to the well-being of vulnerable groups such as women, children, and the elderly, who often face greater economic challenges.

During the symbolic presentation held at the Osuntokun Pavilion in Ado Ekiti, she shared that the initiative would provide thousands of Ekiti State families with essential food items, including rice, beans, spaghetti, and garri, with plans to expand the program to other regions in the coming months.

Senator Tinubu emphasized that RHI’s efforts are part of a broader commitment to uplift lives through initiatives in health, education, agriculture, social investment, and economic empowerment. “Today, as we launch this program in Ekiti State, our aim is to extend support across all geopolitical zones. Our hope is that this initiative will positively impact the lives of those we support. A healthy family is the foundation of a thriving society, which is our ultimate goal. The Renewed Hope Initiative remains devoted to enhancing lives through targeted programs,” she remarked.

Expressing appreciation for the initiative, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, Wife of the Ekiti State Governor and RHI State Coordinator, welcomed the First Lady’s efforts, noting that the food outreach program represents hope and a firm commitment to meeting the needs of Nigerians. Dr. Oyebanji commended Senator Tinubu’s dedication to making a meaningful difference in the lives of Nigerians through the Renewed Hope Initiative.

Mr. Biodun Agboola, representing the beneficiaries, expressed deep gratitude, acknowledging the First Lady’s compassion and tireless support for disadvantaged groups. He highlighted the Governor Oyebanji-led administration’s strides in improving conditions for people with disabilities in Ekiti State through various supportive programs.

The event, attended by dignitaries including Deputy Governor Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Afuye, Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, and community leaders, also featured spirited cultural performances by women’s groups and the State Performing Arts Company, celebrating the rich diversity of Nigeria’s ethnic traditions.
