National President of the Nigeria National Association of the Deaf (NNAD), Dr. Chidi Topaz Olujie has expressed confidence in Nigeria’s readiness to host the 2027 World Federation of the Deaf Congress.
Olujie said this in an interview, on the sideline, of the general assembly of the World Federation of the Deaf held in Jeju Island, South Korea on 8th July, 2023.
Nigeria is currently slugging it out with Norway and Abu Dhabi UAE in the bid for the WFD 2027 congress hosting rights at this year’s congress.
When asked what plans he has in store for World Deaf community if Nigeria is given the hosting rights, speaking in International Sign Language, the NNAD National President, Dr. Chidi Olujie said he wishes Nigeria be given the hosting rights to bring unity among deaf community in Nigeria, Africa and the World.
According to him, several countries in America, Europe, and Asia have been given the rights to host the world, Africa has not had the chance like it’s counterparts in other continents.
This should pave ways for Nigeria to host and bring the world to Africa.
He assured that the goverment will grant free visa registrations, feedings, transportations and bring about interactions in the country.
He said the event is an opportunity to create awarensess about Deaf in Nigeria and Africa and called on everyone to support Nigeria and bring the world to the country so as to bring about change about the Deaf.
