Abuja, Nigeria – The City Boy Movement (CBM) has appointed Mohammed Abba Isa, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, as its National Director for Persons with Disabilities.
The appointment was announced during the maiden meeting of the National Working Committee of the movement. In his acceptance remarks, Isa expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Grand Patron of the movement, as well as Seyi Tinubu, the Patron, and the Director General of the City Boy Movement for the confidence reposed in him.
He pledged to leverage the extensive structures and networks within the disability community across Nigeria to strengthen grassroots mobilisation efforts for the movement and support the re-election campaign of President Tinubu. According to him, the disability community already maintains a strong presence across the 36 states of the federation, the Federal Capital Territory, 774 local government areas, 8,809 wards, and numerous polling units nationwide.
Isa stated that these existing structures would be integrated into the City Boy Movement’s mobilisation framework to ensure wider participation and effective engagement. He added that he would work closely with Organisations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) and coordinators at various levels, from polling units to zonal structures, to promote effective coordination and inclusiveness.
As part of efforts to strengthen the movement’s grassroots presence, the newly appointed director announced plans to commence the inauguration of coordinators across the country. The initiative will involve the appointment of state, zonal, local government, ward, and polling unit mobilisers to enhance the movement’s organisational capacity nationwide.
He noted that the move is aimed at promoting greater inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in political participation, civic engagement, and national development, while also advancing support for the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Reaffirming his commitment to service, Isa pledged to uphold the values of discipline, integrity, accountability, professionalism, and dedication in the discharge of his responsibilities. He also assured stakeholders of his readiness to work collaboratively to expand the reach and impact of the City Boy Movement across Nigeria.
