The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) has empowered 100 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) through free business registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and enterprise development training aimed at strengthening disability-owned businesses across Lagos State.
The empowerment programme, themed “Beyond Limits: Building Sustainable and Compliant Enterprises,” was held at the STO Resource Centre Hall, Alausa, Ikeja, as part of LASODA’s efforts to promote entrepreneurship, financial inclusion and sustainable economic growth for Persons with Disabilities.
Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Pharm. (Mrs.) Oluwatoyin Oke-Osayintolu, said the initiative reflects the Lagos State Government’s commitment to expanding economic opportunities for Persons with Disabilities. She noted that, beyond facilitating CAC registration, the programme equipped participants with practical knowledge in entrepreneurial resilience, branding, digital visibility, financial literacy, bookkeeping and tax compliance to help them build profitable and compliant enterprises.
The General Manager of LASODA, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, urged participants to embrace excellence, innovation and quality service as the foundation for long-term business success. She expressed confidence that entrepreneurs with disabilities would contribute significantly to Lagos State’s economic growth and Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), while encouraging women entrepreneurs to strengthen their businesses through sound financial management and creativity.
Facilitators Mr. Alani Lateef Adebayo and Mrs. Adetutu Adesanya Ijasan led practical sessions on business development, branding, financial management and regulatory compliance, providing participants with strategies for building resilient and competitive enterprises.
The initiative underscores LASODA’s continued commitment to promoting economic independence, business formalisation and equal opportunities for Persons with Disabilities through entrepreneurship and enterprise development.
