The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the full operationalisation of the proposed National Farm Cities Project, an initiative aimed at promoting disability inclusion, economic empowerment, and sustainable livelihoods for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) across Nigeria.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard M. Doro, gave the assurance while receiving the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Ayuba Burki Bukwan, alongside representatives of the Peace for Humanity Foundation during a courtesy visit in Abuja. The delegation presented a proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the implementation of the National Farm Cities Project.
Dr. Doro assured the delegation that the Ministry would carefully review the proposed MoU to facilitate the successful implementation of the project in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He emphasized the need for strong partnerships that promote inclusive development, reduce poverty, and ensure that no Nigerian, particularly Persons with Disabilities, is left behind.
The proposed National Farm Cities Project is expected to benefit millions of Persons with Disabilities through inclusive agricultural programmes, skills development, and economic empowerment initiatives across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The initiative is aimed at enhancing food security, creating sustainable livelihoods, and expanding economic opportunities for Persons with Disabilities nationwide.
