Gombe Deaf Women To Elect New Executives June 22

The chairperson of Gombe State Deaf Women Association (GOSDWA), Mrs. Alheri Nuhu Iliya has said her organization is scheduling to hold its second ever election on June 22nd to elect the new leaders that will steer the affairs of the association for the next four years.

She made the statement during a general meeting of Deaf women she chaired recently at the premise of Bubayero primary school, Gombe LGA, Gombe state.

According to her, “GOSDWA’s last known election was in the year 2014 which produced the first ever State Executive Council of GOSDWA under the able leadership of the pioneer chairperson of the association Mrs. Tani Daniel.”

She noted “the upcoming election is the second ever election in the history of GOSDWA.”

Iliya added that, “the good news is the coming election is going to be eventful one as a powerful delegation from the National Headquarters of Deaf Women Association of Nigeria (DWAN) are expected to arrive at the state capital to hold a crucial meeting with GOSDWA’s stakeholders on 21st June and subsequently observe the election on the next day (22nd june).”

The GOSDWA’s chairperson who was also the Women Leader of Gombe State Association of the Deaf (GOMSAD) advised the members of GOSDWA to be abreast of the unfolding development and prepare to participate fully in the election.

“We want all our teeming members to prepare well and attend the convention on 22nd June. Those of you who are interested in vying for elective offices should purchase nomination form at a price that cab be determined later.”

“We all have collective responsibility to contribute meaningfully to the development of GOSDWA to achieve her desired objectives. I enjoin you all to come out together to honour our national leaders who are coming to Gombe to share experience with us as well as helping us to settle any unsolved issues among us” she added.
