As the global Muslim populace commemorates the yearly holy festival of eid-el adha celebration this week amid intense socioeconomic challenges that recently culminated into the ever-increasing high cost of living, characterized by incessant hike in the price of essential commodities in our market centres in Nigeria, the renowned international Humanitarian organization, Qatar Foundation, has on Sunday put smiles on the faces of students with disabilities (SWDs) and staff of Special Education Centre, Gombe and give them a sense of belonging in this turbulent period of economic meltdown.

The Foundation donated two cows to the students and staff of the centre as their special sallah celebration package.

Commenting on the development, the former principal of the school and the current Special Education Coordinator in the Gombe State Ministry of Education, Mal.Saidu Jiji Gadam, expressed immense gratitude to the Qatar Foundation management for their continued support to the centre.

“We sincerely appreciate the foundation for gifting two cows to the centre, one for the students and one for the staff. This is the first time we are seeing this kind gesture, we pray this will last for a longtime to come” he noted.

Speaking earlier, the principal of the centre, Mal. Muhammed Ahmed Lawal, who could not hide his admiration for the Qatar Foundation kind gestures towards his students and staff, extolled the leadership of the foundation for singling out his school for such humanitarian support.

Lawal said, ” I am very happy our school is considered for such gigantic humanitarian gesture, my deepest appreciation goes to the leadership of this great organization for finding this school worthy of such honour. These children will never forget you for providing them with sallah meat that put them on equal basis with other children who are are enjoying their sallah meat at home”

He added, “i want to use this opportunity to appreciate the continued support of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) who are consistently doing everything to keep the centre going”

In their separate remarks, the Patrons of the Muslims Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) and that of fellowship Of Christian Students ( FCS) of the centre, Mal. Abdullahi A. Awak and Mr. Blessed Charles expressed their appreciations to the Qatar Foundation hierarchy.

The MSSN patron pleaded with the Qatar Foundation to expand its kindhearted gesture to the Muslim students during the holy month of Ramadan. Noting that during the period of Holy month of Ramadan the students were neglected by almost everyone, which, according to him, make life more unbearable to them.

The Headboy of the school, Nasiru Muhammad, a SSS II student, when contacted for comment by INN said the students consider themselves very lucky to have a generous donation of Sallah meats by Qatar Foundation. Speaking with tears filled with joy, he said, “Your kindness has made a significant impact on our community and we are truly grateful.”
