Lagos – The General Manager of the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA), Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, has called for greater inclusion of women with disabilities in the technology sector.
She made this appeal as a distinguished panelist at the Tech Her Up event, held at Walure Hub on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
Speaking on the theme “Beyond Inclusion: Making Women’s Success in Tech the Norm,” Mrs. Oyetunde-Lawal emphasized the need for accessibility and the recognition of diverse needs within the industry. She pointed out that the low representation of women, particularly those with disabilities, remains a significant challenge, calling for more proactive measures to bridge the gap.
She urged women to explore opportunities in the tech industry and encourage young girls to do the same, stressing that fostering an inclusive and diverse environment would pave the way for a better future.
“Empowering the next generation of women to embrace technology is key to ensuring that success in the sector becomes the norm rather than the exception,” she stated.
Mrs. Oyetunde-Lawal also called on organizations to make inclusion a priority by adopting accessible infrastructure, technologies, and policies. She underscored the importance of collective action in driving sustainable change, urging stakeholders to be vocal advocates for inclusivity.
Tech Her Up is a platform dedicated to advancing women in technology by fostering discussions on key issues affecting their participation and growth in the industry. This year’s edition focused on breaking barriers and ensuring that women—especially those with disabilities—have equal access to opportunities in the tech ecosystem.
