- Dorcas Grace Community Initiative storms Methodist Junior Grammar School, Bodija, Ibadan in singular acts of kindness to liberate schoolgirls and schoolboys and foster positive students’ ethical practices in an increasingly predatory society
- The NGO donated valuable items, including buckets, fresh blankets, wrappers, toiletries, reusable and non-reusable pads, pants, and other “girl materials” to several female students
- Schoolboys and schoolgirls, disabled and non-disabled were offered packs and parcels to foster love and support
- The NGO gave interesting lectures on contemporary girl child issues, such as sexual/emotional abuse of the girl child caused by rape and neglect, and measures to prevent consequences. Homosexuality and lesbianism among boys and girls were strictly advised against.
- The NGO, in conjunction with the Oyo State Ministry of Women Affairs, wants to emancipate and empower the girl child and take up legal cases in support of victims of sexual/emotional abuse, and gender-based/domestic violence
- Backed by an Attorney, who is also the Founder, the Initiative vows to stand up for at-risk schoolgirls and schoolboys who are needy, orphaned, or displaced due to extenuating circumstances beyond their control
Dorcas Grace Community Initiative storms one of the most popular public schools in Ibadan, Oyo State to present material and immaterial items of inestimable value to teeming students.
The NGO donated valuable items, including buckets, fresh blankets, wrappers, toiletries, reusable and non-reusable pads, pants, and other “girl materials” to several girls. Several boys also received various items.
These presentations had taken place following talks and lectures on important topics and issues that potentially affect the girl child.
Methodist Grammar School, Bodija is a public secondary school in Bodija, Oju-Irin, Ibadan. Headed by two Principals and several Vice Principals, the school boasts of two unit schools—Senior and Junior and is host to some of the most famous, most successful individuals in the public and private sectors in Oyo state. MGSB is a mixed inclusive secondary school designed for all categories of students, including Deaf and hard of hearing students (DHH).
The NGO, in close partnership with the Oyo State Ministry of Women Affairs, wants to fight for the rights of at-risk schoolgirls who are needy and objects of sexual abuse and domestic violence.
Speaking to large students on the School Assembly Ground, the NGO Project Officer, (Mrs) Ishola Oluwakemi, touched on many topics, including sexual/emotional abuse, gender-based violence, assault and battery, and neglect and displacement of the girl child.
Mrs. Oluwakemi Ishola addresses the students of MGSB on consequential girl child issues such as premarital sex.
“You are not supposed to have sex now. Nobody should force you into having sex…not your friends, brothers, or uncle.” her voice rumbled around the cold, dusty school atmosphere. “If anybody displays unusual, indecent acts around you, flee. Don’t wait. Run! Come back to the school and report to your teachers and principals, and we will be sure to stand for you.
It was learned that the NGO was founded and supported by an anonymous brilliant attorney who would go to the end of the world to achieve safety and security for the little girl child.
Dorcas Grace supports vulnerable schoolchildren all over the country. It says it wants to transform the lives of children on the edges of society – trafficked children, refugees, child laborers, victims of emotional/sexual abuse, orphaned, indigent, and domestically displaced children – and help them recover, retool, and regain their rights and pursue their dreams.

“Parents must be aware that their children are vulnerable – that is the hard lesson we’ve learned.” That is the message the Dorcas Grace Community Initiative simply conveyed at Methodist Junior Grammar School, Bodija as students and teachers gathered in throngs to welcome the non-governmental organization.
Addressing teachers at a separate meeting about the earlier event when the NGO had spent time with schoolchildren, the School Principal, Mrs. Toyin Adaramodu, told teachers that the primary goal of the NGO is to invest early, help the vulnerable, at risk children increase capacity, and leave them bigger and stronger than before. It also provides management assistance, capacity building, networking opportunities, and additional strengthening services for lasting change.
Students whistleblowers were chosen to oversee any acts of indecencies or unusual occurrences with fellow students and discreetly report to selected teachers. The teacher will make the necessary moves to normalize the situation. In severe cases, the Principal said reports would be fed to the NGO where they can take things up in their solemn support of young vulnerable, at-risk individuals.
