ABUJA, Nigeria — The Presidency has extended warm greetings to Nigerian workers in celebration of the 2026 International Workers’ Day, with special recognition for persons with disabilities, applauding their resilience and contributions to national development despite prevailing challenges.
In a statement, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Mohammed Abba Isa, described workers with disabilities as symbols of hope and resilience, noting that their dedication and perseverance continue to inspire a more inclusive and progressive Nigeria.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu to fostering an inclusive society where persons with disabilities can thrive with dignity and equal opportunities. According to him, the government remains focused on ensuring accessibility and fairness across all sectors.
The presidential aide further disclosed that his office is working in collaboration with the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation to improve the working conditions and remuneration of civil servants with disabilities. He explained that efforts are underway to develop a comprehensive Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policy, which will be presented for validation and implementation.
He called on Nigerians to use the occasion to reaffirm their collective commitment to building a fair, inclusive, and prosperous nation, urging workers to remain steadfast as their contributions continue to drive national growth and development.
