About 50 women groups across Ogun State have received relief items majorly raw rice from the Renewed Hope Initiative of President Bola Tinubu’s administration through the Office of the wife of the governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun.

The flag off event which took place at the MTR Hall, GRA Abeokuta, had beneficiaries, widows, people with disabilities, non governmental organizations, civil societies and various religious groups from the 20 local government areas of the state.

According to Mrs Abiodun, the First Lady of the Federation, Senator Oluremi Tinubu was not oblivious of the economic situation of the country hence the need to consistently relief the burden, particularly on women, the persons with disabilities, aged and widows across the country.

Mrs. Abiodun said “today marks an important occasion as we flag-off the distribution of relief materials to our most vulnerable individuals, including widows, people with disabilities, and other groups in Ogun State.

“This initiative is part of the Renewed Hope Initiative led by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu CON, who has generously donated tens of thousands of bags of rice to all 36 states of the federation. We are deeply grateful for her timely response to the economic hardships experienced by many Nigerians, as it aims to cushion the effects of these challenges.” She added.

She said it was crucial to support the most vulnerable because they formed an important part of the society adding that empowering women too was a must due to the critical roles they play in homes and the economy explaining that it would not only strengthen the economy but that it would also promote peace and stability within communities.

She further stated that “as we work to address the current economic situation, President Bola Tinubu has assured the nation that the present economic hardship is temporary. These difficulties are the result of necessary reforms in our economy, aimed at securing a better future for all Nigerians.”

“Today’s flag-off is only the beginning of the distributions that will continue throughout the next few weeks. We will identify more groups that require urgent intervention and do our best to provide relief materials to them. Thank you once again to all the people of Ogun State, for being peaceful and law abiding as we all work for a better Nigeria.” She stated.

Representatives of the beneficiaries in their separate remarks, appreciated the magnanimity of the Mrs. Tinubu and Mrs. Abiodun describing them as God sent at the period praying that God will help them to continue the good work.

They promised their support through prayers and admonishment of their children, particularly the youths on the need to support government policies and implementations that would bring about stability to the country rather than join miscreants to vandalize infrastructure in the guise of protests.
