World Federation of the Deaf (WFD), the apex Deaf organization across the globe has inspected facilities and sites offered by Nigeria for hosting the Deaf world ahead of the world congress of the Federation in 2027.
INN gathers that WFD delegates were unable to come to Nigeria for physical inspection of the sites. The sites/facilities inspection was done on Zoom meetings held between Teams of the Nigeria National Association of the Deaf (NNAD), Association of Sign Language Interpreters in Nigeria (ASLIN) and WFD delegates.
A statement released by Abdullahi Isma’il Ibrahim, National Public Relations Officer (PRO) of NNAD said the delegates were satisfied after evaluating the International Conference Center, ICC, Abuja, proposed site for WFD Congress and the Sheraton Hotels (now Abuja Continental Hotel) proposed venue for Youth Camp as well as Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
The NPRO said: “I am pleased to inform you all that we are 100% qualified to enter the bid in South Korea in July as we have successfully passed all the questions asked by WFD in the Zoom meeting with NNAD leaders.”
INN can authoritatively report that this year’s world congress will hold from July 11-15 at Jeju Island, South Korea. Nigeria will be slugging it out with the Norway and Abu Dhabi UAE in the bid for the WFD 2027 congress’s hosting rights.
