A 30-year-old aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mahmud Sadis Buba, popularly known as Abin Al-Ajabin Zazzau, has successfully completed the party’s screening process for the House of Representatives seat representing Sabon Gari Federal Constituency of Kaduna State.
A video of the screening session, which surfaced online on Sunday, has continued to attract widespread attention on social media. In the clip, Buba appeared before the screening panel dressed in traditional attire, with many viewers reacting to his youthful appearance, which they said makes him look far younger than his actual age.
During the screening, Buba, a person with dwarfism, responded confidently to questions about his background, age and political ambition. He disclosed that he is 30 years old and the firstborn in a family of nine children, stressing that he was encouraged by members of his community to contest the election in order to serve the people.
Speaking on his aspiration, he appealed to the party leadership to give him a fair opportunity, saying he had fulfilled all requirements for the contest. “People called on me to serve them, and I am ready to serve. I am not doing this for myself,” he said.
Buba also confirmed that he is contesting alongside the incumbent member of the House of Representatives seeking re-election. Asked why he wanted to replace the serving lawmaker, the aspirant maintained that the decision was driven by the wishes of the people in his constituency.
The APC hopeful, who currently serves as Chairman of the Tinubu–Uba Sani Agenda ’27 support group, recently obtained the party’s expression of interest and nomination forms.
His emergence has generated conversations around youth participation, inclusion and representation in Nigeria’s political space. While many social media users praised his confidence and composure during the screening exercise, others criticised the tone of some questions asked during the interview, describing them as insensitive.
Supporters of the aspirant have continued to describe him as a grassroots mobiliser and a symbol of resilience and inclusion. Buba, who holds a NECO certificate, is also being celebrated by many for challenging stereotypes and inspiring greater participation of young persons and persons with disabilities in politics.
