Disability Inclusion Key to Our Mandate — NCDC Boss

by Inclusive News Network

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), Dr. Cyril Yiltsen Tsenyil, has reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to inclusive development, assuring that persons with disabilities will not be excluded from its programmes and interventions across the North Central region.

Dr. Tsenyil gave the assurance while receiving members of the Nasarawa State Disability Rights Commission during a courtesy visit to the NCDC headquarters in Lafia. He described the visit as significant and timely, noting that the inclusion and welfare of persons with disabilities remain central to the Commission’s mandate of promoting equitable development in the region.

According to the NCDC boss, the Commission is committed to ensuring that persons with disabilities in the six North Central states and the Federal Capital Territory benefit meaningfully from all intervention programmes. He stressed the importance of strengthening partnerships with state and national disability rights commissions to enhance collaboration and provide guidance on addressing the needs of persons with disabilities effectively.

He added that such collaboration would help the Commission better understand the unique challenges faced by persons with disabilities and ensure the provision of support systems, accessible facilities, and assistive devices that would improve their welfare and promote greater inclusion in society.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Nasarawa State Disability Rights Commission, Hon. Saleh Barde Keana, congratulated Dr. Tsenyil and members of the NCDC Board on their appointments. He expressed optimism that the Commission would make a significant impact across the North Central region, noting that persons with disabilities and other stakeholders had long anticipated the establishment of the NCDC because of the enormous expectations surrounding its development agenda.
