The South African Society for Mental Health and Deafness (SASMHD) is delighted to announce that it is in partnership with Worthy Women NPC – an institution that advocates for participatory democracy, especially for the abused, disabled and disadvantaged, using skills development, entrepreneurship programs, outreach programs, provision of educational programs, health care programs and deaf beauty pageants as key drivers for social inclusion, social cohesion and social integration, INN reports from source
INN gathered that SASMHD’s vision is to facilitate high quality accessible mental health care for all deaf people in South Africa. It also sees mental health as, essentially, living positively – having a positive approach to circumstances, and learning how to develop the tools to deal effectively with life in all its nuances.
INN also learnt that the CEO of Worthy Women NPC, Mrs Leviena Smit, and the Chairperson of SASMHD, Tim Stones, are hopeful that through this partnership a greater number of deaf people will be positively influenced through the development of life skills, a greater self insight into their intrinsic self worth and ability to make a valuable and lasting contribution to the lives of all South Africans, not only within the deaf community, but across all cultures and communities.
Every person has such enormous potential to make a significant contribution to the greater good of all. This partnership will endeavour to assist deaf people to gain greater insight into the skills and attributes they possess, and help them to develop the necessary skills so as to be able to bring to the fore their God-given talents, so as to both live out their best lives, and to do so in service to others, the group said
SASMHD is proud to be in partnership with Worthy Women NPC. We are also enormously excited to have the opportunity to lead a motivational workshop for finalists of the Miss/Mr Deaf Galaxy pageant in May, and the MDSA pageant in October, where SASMHD chairperson Tim Stones has been asked to serve as a Judge.
