A 30-years old physically Challenged Man, Abdulazeez Jega, who allegedly specialised in defiling young girls, has been arrested by men of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) at Badariya area in Birnin-kebbi, Kebbi state, INN reports.
The Chairman of the VGN, Alhaji Lawal Augie, told reporters in Birnin-Kebbi on Thursday that the man was apprehended by residents of the area while having carnal knowledge of four girls, ages between 12 and 13.
Augie stated that on Wednesday night “we got a distress call from the district head of Badariya area that a physically challenged person was caught defiling four teenage girls who were hawking in the area.
“Immediately, we sent our men to the area and the man was handed over to us for further interrogation. We have, however, transferred the matter to the state Hisbah committee for necessary action because it has to do with the violation of our culture”, Augie said.
INN gathered that the suspect had earlier been sent away from Jega Local Government Area of the state for similar offence before he relocated to Birnin-kebbi.
One of the victim, a 13-year old girl (name withheld) said the suspect started defiling her in 2017. She says, “my first contact with him was in 2017, while I was hawking locally baked cake in Badariya area close to his house. As soon as he heard my voice, he called me to come, asking what I was selling, but when I moved towards him, he held my hand and I just felt dizzy and slumped. He carried me into his bedroom where he defiled me,” the girl recount.
However, she said that she reported the matter to her parents and her father promised he would take the man to court but that since then she had not heard anything.
Admitting to the crime, Jega said it was the devil that pushed him into such acts. “ I am from Jega Local Government Area and a trader by occupation. I have a wife and three children. This is the first time I have been into this act and it is the devil that pushed me into it. I can’t say more than that”, the suspect said with remorse.
