Persons living with disability in Bayelsa on Monday March 25, blocked the state government house, protesting over the alleged refusal of the state government to give them slots in the ongoing employment into the civil service.
Chairman of the Association of Persons with Disability in the state, Mr Eric Ekibowie, said: “The state government promised to give us seven slots in the last recruitment, but up till this moment, we have not received any employment letter.”
The state’s Commissioner for Employment and Social Development, Mrs Faith Opene, said the physically challenged people that took part in the exercise failed the examinations.
She, however, said since the government had promised to give them slots, seven names had already been shortlisted.
