The National Chairman of the main Chidi/Haruna campaign organisation, the Unity Peace and Progressive Team (UPP-T), Hon. Yusuf Mohammed Lawan has said that the re-election of President Chidi Topaz Oluijie and Vice President Hon. Haruna Mohammed in 2024 will not only benefit Deaf Nigerians but also benefit the entire Deaf community in Africa at large.
He was speaking yesterday in Gombe state capital at the instance of some members of Deaf community.
According to him, President Chidi and his supportive vice president Mal. Haruna Mohammed has demonstrated beyond doubt, in the past three and a half years, that they have the capacity to stabilize NNAD and another four year tenure for them would just be enough to make NNAD a pride of Africa, the black man race and the world at large.
Lawan said he was thrilled with the ever-increasing support and endorsements the NNAD incumbent leaders are receiving from NNAD members across the country as they took the decision to go all out in support of Dr. Chidi/Haruna’s ticket because the president had declared after it was clear that he had substantially fulfilled his wide-ranging campaign promises, particularly in the areas of youth empowerment, education and promoting NNAD’s prestige in the eyes of the world, the leadership had also give prominence on the collective fight against slavery and trafficking in persons that has over the years been rampaging the Nigerian Deaf community.
Similarly, the UPP-T Chairman said, “the most important thing to note here is the passion for sacrifice and patriotism exhibited by the incumbent president and his supportive Vice president in running the daily affairs of presidential office, which to a great extent, endears them to so many of us, their honesty (in words and conduct), touch of kindness and fairness, their humility and understanding towards all of us made every member of NNAD, even perceived political opponents to believe that, leaders are now here to serve, a truly inspiring leaders are born to take NNAD to the promised land.
The UPP-T Chairman further disclosed why it is high time for the delegates to reiterate the earlier trust and confidence they reposed in Chidi’s leadership credibility like they did four years ago in kano, stressing that the president has merit reelection due to his magnificent performance in office.
He noted, “the NNAD president’s resolve to set up various standing committees including the Constitutional Drafting Committee, the Agric Committee, Media and Publicity Committee, Education Committee among others at the inception of his administration to advise the NNAD National Executive Council and stakeholders and made useful recommendations has indeed provided the juicy ingredients which immensely contributed towards the unprecedented achievements recorded in the current administration.
“In just three years of Dr. Chidi’s stewardship as the NNAD’s president he has stabilized and transformed NNAD from a very weaker entity to a strong, formidable organization that is being envied by other sister PWDs organizations within and outside the country”
Lawan added that “Dr. Chidi’s rare and soft approach to leadership role enable him to see positively most of the times and to carry every member of NNAD along irrespective of tribal, religious, regional and/or political differences and thus putting the incumbent leadership in pole position to acieving victory in the coning election in Ogun state.”
