The National Leader of the APC PWD, Hon. Tolu Bankole, has generously donated ₦250,000 to support the 34th Annual General Meeting and General Elections of the Nigeria National Association of the Deaf (NNAD).
This announcement was made by the Local Organizing Committee Chairman, Dr. Lekan Mohammed, during a preparatory meeting for the event, which is set to begin on Monday, September 23, with an opening ceremony at the June 12 Cultural Centre in Kuto, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Speaking on behalf of the Ogun State Association of the Deaf, Dr. Mohammed expressed his gratitude, praising Hon. Bankole as a compassionate leader who has consistently championed the welfare of Persons with Disabilities (PWD) in the state.
“We are deeply appreciative of your commitment and generous support in advancing inclusion and the well-being of PWDs in Ogun State,” Dr. Mohammed said.
He also highlighted Hon. Bankole’s longstanding support for the disabled community, commending his efforts in advocating for their interests and ensuring meaningful participation in governance.
Dr. Mohammed further noted that the inclusion of PWDs in Ogun State’s political landscape has been steadily improving. “We take this opportunity to urge the government to continue promoting inclusivity in governance,” he added.
INN reports that the 2024 NNAD AGM and General Elections, themed “Sign up for Sign Language Rights,” will take place from September 22 to 26, 2024, at the June 12 Cultural Centre, with Deaf members from all 36 states of Nigeria converging in Ogun State for the annual event.
