NDFA Calls For Support As Nigeria Advances to Round of 16 At WDFC

Nigeria Deaf Football Association (NDFA) has called on the Sports Ministry to release more funds to enable more players join the 13 players that have struggled to qualify to round of 16 at the ongoing World Deaf Football Championship (WDFC) being hold in Malaysia despite defeating Australia 5-0 on Wednesday, 27th- 09- 2023.

Two goals from Korede Salami and one from Jonas Charles in the first half and two extra goals from Salllaudeen Saleh in second half were enough to defeat Australia and qualify Nigeria for round of 16.

Speaking to Inclusive News Network, Nehemiah Daret, the Secretary General of NDFA said that “despite the challenge we faced, Nigeria Deaf Eagles managed to qualify for group of round 16.

He however, called for more support, he said “We are calling on the Sports ministry to approve and release additional funds to enable more players join the 13 players that have struggled to qualify despite being walked over by Gabon in their first match because some of them have sustained injuries and are just managing.

INN reports that Nigeria who was third in Group D will slug it out with Ukraine in the round of 16 on September 29 at 8:30 (MYT).
