The Executive Chairman of the Nasarawa State Disability Rights Commission, Hon. Saleh Barde Keana, has reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of persons with disabilities and vulnerable groups in society.
The Chairman gave the assurance while receiving members of “The Visionary PWD and Less Privileged Women of Impact” during a courtesy visit to the Commission’s office in Nasarawa State.
Speaking during the visit, the Project Lead and Programme Coordinator of the group, Harira Sanusi Babansoro, said the team was at the Commission on a familiarization visit and to seek collaboration and support for its humanitarian activities. According to her, the organization is focused on providing hope, education, healthcare, and economic opportunities to underprivileged women and children across Nasarawa State and beyond.
In his remarks, Hon. Saleh Barde Keana commended the group for its dedication to supporting vulnerable members of society. He noted that disability advocacy and humanitarian movements were previously driven mainly by persons with disabilities, but expressed satisfaction that more able-bodied individuals are now joining efforts to promote inclusion and social development.
The NSDRC Chairman encouraged members of the organization to remain focused and committed to their vision, expressing confidence that their efforts would yield positive results in the future. He also reiterated the Commission’s readiness to partner with groups working towards empowerment and inclusion.
The meeting was attended by the Director of Finance and Accounts and the Director of Social Affairs of the Commission. Also present were the Assistant Project Lead, Halima Ozegya, and the Welfare and Evaluation Lead, Shamsiya Aliyu Ibrahim.
