Malaysia 2023: Deaf Eagles Shine On Independent Day, Defeat Gabon 2-1

Deaf Eagles shone on Nigerian Independent Day in Malaysia, thrashed Gabon 2-1 in a classification of 9-16 world ranking match which was played on the Nigerian Independent Day celebration(1st October 2023).

The Green White Green jersey Deaf Eagles dedicated this victory against Gabon to Nigerians despite the challenges they faced all along in order to ensure that Nigeria is well represented in the world comity of nations.

Inclusive News Network (INN) reports that Salaudeen Saleh opened with a goal and Jonas Charles’s added another goal, all in the first half making it 2-0 for Nigeria. Gabonese national team canceled one of the goals in the second half.

“The future of Nigerian Deaf Eagles is very bright” said Nehemiah Daret, Secretary General, Nigeria Deaf Football Association (NDFA)

Daret added “I believe that Nigeria Deaf Eagles will plan better ahead of any international engagements after learning great lessons during the 4th World Deaf Football Championship which only 13 Players made the country proud despite losing out during the group of 16 matches with 0-2 to Ukraine who were well prepared than Nigeria with sponsorship, enough players and officials by their government.

“We are expecting the Hon. Minister of Sports to welcome Deaf Eagles personally upon their return at the end of the championship and address the issues faced by the team and how the problems can be chanelled to provide a level playing ground for the Deaf Eagles to fly high and make the country proud on their next outings.” He said.
