The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) has commended the Festus Fajemilo Foundation for its impactful efforts in empowering parents of children with disabilities.

At a special event held at Ritas Events and Suite, Abule-Egba, 30 parents were presented with working tools to support their means of livelihood.

LASODA’s General Manager, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, represented by the Director of Social Development and Integration, Mr. Akeem Kelani, applauded the foundation’s dedication.

She reiterated LASODA’s commitment to working with organizations that promote disability inclusion and urged more stakeholders to collaborate with the government to create a supportive environment.

“Together, we can build an inclusive society where people with disabilities and their families receive the support they need to thrive,” she stated.

In a related development, Mrs. Oyetunde-Lawal also joined the Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Hon. Akinyemi Bankole Ajigbotafe, at the launch of the Entrepreneurship Training Programme for persons with disabilities.

The initiative, spearheaded by the ministry, will train 300 participants in various vocational and entrepreneurial skills, including cane weaving, soap making, makeup artistry, hairdressing, barbing, leather works, and phone repairs.

The five-week program is designed to enhance self-reliance and financial independence among persons with disabilities. Also present at the event was Mr. Akeem Kelani, Director of Social Development and Integration at LASODA.

Through these initiatives, Lagos State continues to demonstrate its commitment to social inclusion and economic empowerment for all, ensuring that persons with disabilities have the resources and opportunities to thrive
