The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), in partnership with the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC) Programme II, has trained community stakeholders on disability inclusion, the Lagos State Special People’s Law, and Technology-Facilitated Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (TF-SGBV) to strengthen grassroots responses across the state.
The stakeholder engagement, held on Tuesday at the Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, brought together representatives of Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas (LGAs/LCDAs), the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA), the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lagos Chapter, and other key stakeholders committed to advancing disability rights and combating gender-based violence.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary of DSVA, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, represented by Ms. Zainab Alaka, underscored the importance of community partnerships in protecting the rights of persons with disabilities and addressing the growing threat of technology-facilitated abuse. She called for sustained collaboration to ensure inclusive protection and access to justice for vulnerable groups.
Participants received practical training on disability inclusion, the provisions of the Special People’s Law, and emerging forms of online abuse affecting vulnerable populations. They also developed community action plans to improve awareness, strengthen reporting mechanisms, promote inclusive policies, and expand access to support services, while reaffirming their commitment to combating Technology-Facilitated Sexual and Gender-Based Violence at the grassroots level.
