The Lagos State Government has increased the disability support fund for the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) from ₦500 million to ₦1 billion in a move aimed at strengthening support for persons with disabilities across the state.
The Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, disclosed this during the Year 2026 Ministerial Press Briefing while highlighting the achievements of LASODA under the current administration.
According to the commissioner, the agency has continued to make significant progress in promoting inclusion, accessibility, and public awareness for persons with disabilities in Lagos State.
He noted that LASODA’s interventions span several areas including capacity building and professional training, economic empowerment and business support, financial assistance to homes and clusters, as well as the provision of assistive devices, prosthetics, and work tools.
Ogunlende also highlighted the agency’s efforts in infrastructure upgrades, legal interventions, strategic partnerships, and multi-sector collaboration aimed at improving the welfare and opportunities available to persons with disabilities.
He commended Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for approving the increase in the disability support fund, describing the decision as a bold demonstration of the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance.
The commissioner added that the increased funding would further strengthen LASODA’s mission of promoting equal opportunities, accessibility, and empowerment for persons with disabilities while ensuring that no one is left behind in the development of Lagos State.
