Excitement lit up the National Stadium Mainbowl in Surulere, Lagos, as the third edition of the Kerry Okoh Foundation Deaf Football Friendly Match delivered a memorable contest between Lagos State and Ogun State Deaf Teams. The match was a testament to tactical brilliance, athleticism, and sheer determination from both sides.

Lagos wasted no time asserting control, dictating the game with sharp passes and decisive movements. Despite Ogun’s strong defensive efforts, including heroic saves from their goalkeeper, Lagos found the net in the 23rd minute. Korede Olurinde Salami’s spectacular curling strike into the top corner had the crowd roaring in admiration.

Undeterred, Ogun launched counter-attacks, testing Lagos’ backline repeatedly. Yet, the Lagos defense remained resolute, shutting down every attempt to equalize. By the 57th minute, Salami struck again, completing a fluid team move with a clinical finish to extend Lagos’ lead.

The final blow came in the 80th minute when Abubakar Adebayo pounced on a defensive lapse by Ogun, securing a decisive 3-0 victory.

While Lagos celebrated their triumph, Ogun earned respect for their unwavering effort and commendable sportsmanship.

In the post-match ceremony, Kerry Okoh’s representative, Mr. Oluwole Sunday, presented the victorious Lagos team with a ₦300,000 cash prize. The day not only crowned Lagos as champions but also underscored the unity and passion driving Deaf football, leaving fans excited for the next edition.
