Kebbi Governor Reaffirms Commitment to Disability Inclusion, Donates ₦50 Million for Empowerment

The Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting the welfare and inclusion of persons with disabilities, announcing a donation of ₦50 million to support their economic empowerment.

The Governor made the announcement when thousands of persons with disabilities paid him a solidarity visit at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi. He assured them that his administration would continue to provide equal opportunities and create an enabling environment for them to contribute meaningfully to the state’s development.

Governor Idris emphasized that disability should never be seen as a limitation to achieving success and living a fulfilling life. He noted that the establishment of the Kebbi State Commission for Persons with Disabilities reflects his administration’s resolve to harness the talents and potential of persons with disabilities while ensuring their full participation in governance and development.

Expressing delight over the visit, the Governor thanked the delegation for their support and confidence in his administration.

“I am delighted to receive such a large gathering of persons with disabilities on a solidarity visit. I urge you to continue supporting this administration as we work together to build a more inclusive Kebbi State,” he said.

As part of the visit, Governor Idris presented a cheque of ₦50 million to support empowerment initiatives for persons with disabilities. He encouraged the beneficiaries to remain productive, self-reliant, and continue contributing to the growth and progress of the state.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the Kebbi State Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Abdullahi Aliyu Usman, said the visit was organised to appreciate the Governor for his unwavering support for persons with disabilities and to reaffirm their confidence in his inclusive leadership.

He commended the Governor for giving persons with disabilities a sense of belonging through their inclusion in government policies and decision-making processes.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Commission’s Board, Alhaji Anas Malami Gwandu, praised Governor Idris for his sustained commitment to improving the lives of persons with disabilities. He assured the Governor of the continued support and cooperation of the disability community as the administration advances its development agenda for Kebbi State.
