The Chairman of the Nasarawa State Internal Revenue Service (NSIRS), Alhaji Adamu Sarki, has approved employment slots for the Nasarawa State Disability Rights Commission (NSDRC), reaffirming his commitment to promoting the inclusion of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the state’s civil service.
Sarki also pledged to donate N300,000 monthly from his salary to the Commission as a social welfare support package throughout his tenure as Chairman of the revenue agency.
The NSIRS Chairman made the commitments on Wednesday when he received the Executive Chairman, members and management of the Nasarawa State Disability Rights Commission during a courtesy visit to his office in Lafia.
He said the initiatives were part of his commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of persons with disabilities in Nasarawa State, adding that he would work closely with the Commission to advance disability inclusion and improve the welfare of PWDs.
Sarki further expressed his readiness to collaborate with the Commission in identifying areas where the NSIRS could contribute to the empowerment and socio-economic development of persons with disabilities across the state.
Earlier, the Executive Chairman of the Nasarawa State Disability Rights Commission, Hon. Saleh Barde Keana, congratulated Alhaji Adamu Sarki on his appointment as Chairman of the NSIRS by the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule.
Keana urged the NSIRS Chairman to deploy the wealth of experience he had acquired over the years in taxation and public administration to further strengthen the state’s revenue generation capacity.
He commended the NSIRS for the impressive growth recorded in internally generated revenue within the first 100 days of Sarki’s assumption of office, attributing the development to his deep knowledge and experience in taxation.
The NSDRC Chairman expressed optimism that the NSIRS Chairman would have a successful and impactful tenure, particularly in strengthening the state’s revenue base and supporting inclusive development.
He also appreciated Sarki for his willingness to partner with the Disability Rights Commission and for demonstrating a strong commitment to improving opportunities and welfare for persons with disabilities in Nasarawa State.
