Umar Jibril Bindawa, the Special Assistant on Disability Matters to the Katsina State Governor, Mallam Umar Dikko Radda, recently embarked on a series of official visits aimed at fostering inclusivity and improving opportunities for People with Disabilities (PWDs) in Katsina State.
The visit focused on discussing strategies for integrating PWDs into various sectors across the state.
Speaking during a meeting with the Katsina State Head of Civil Service, Bindawa advocated for the establishment of disability desk officers assigned to address the needs of PWDs. He also urged the expansion of educational opportunities for PWDs through foreign scholarship programs to enhance their capacities. Other demands included the implementation of a 5% employment quota and the presentation of an Excellence Merit Award. Bindawa expressed appreciation for the commitment of the Head of Civil Service to promoting inclusivity.
In response, Permanent Secretary Lawal Suleiman Abdullahi, speaking on behalf of Katsina State Head of Civil Service Mallam Falalu Bawale, assured that the state government is prepared to act on these proposals. He emphasized Governor Umar Dikko Radda’s dedication to supporting PWDs through employment and empowerment programs.
