IWD: Group calls for inclusion of women with disabilities

The Executive Director of the Beautiful Gate Handicap People’s Center, Chief Ayuba Burki Gufwan has called for the inclusion of women with disabilities in the scheme of things, especially in process of women empowerment and development.

Chief Burki made this known on Friday 8th March 2024 while commenting on the 2024 International Women’s Day Celebration. The theme for this year’s celebration, ‘Inspire Inclusion’, emphasises the importance of inspiring women to be included, fostering a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment, Chief Burki said it underscores the crucial role of inclusion in achieving gender equality.

Chief Burki noted that while women’s rights are being projected, women with disabilities must be integrated in the structure.

Chief Burki also used the opportunity to appreciate the Governor of Plateau State Barrister Caleb Mannaseh Mutfwang for the provisions made to accommodate persons with disabilities on the Tin City Metro Bus Services. General Manager of the Plateau Express Services Ltd Samuel Gwott Jot has unveiled 14 brand new Metro Buses and showed that persons using wheelchairs could come on board as well as persons with disabilities without wheelchairs.
