The Albinism Association of Nigeria (AAN) has said it will host Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, American Ambassador to Nigeria and other dignitaries of the diplomatic communities as well as notable Nigerian leaders when it commemorates the International Albinism Awareness Day on Monday.
The President, Mr. Jake Epelle disclosed this while expressing his appreciation to the European Union for funding sustainable projects and creating a long-lasting impact at The Albinism Association of Nigeria for Persons with Albinism.
In a press conference held Thursday June 9, 2022 at The Albino Foundation headquarters Abuja, Jack Epelle, the CEO/Founder of The Albino Foundation and President of the Albinism Association of Nigeria, expressed his appreciation to the National Commission for Persons with Disability (NCPWD) and Sightsavers for supporting and partnering with the foundation for the upcoming celebration of International Albinism Awareness Day.
Mr Epelle also praises the media for a job well done in raising awareness of the issues concerning Persons with Albinism in Nigeria.
He stated that the event is slated to hold on the 13th of June in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State and the focus is on child with Albinism. He said that one of the keynote speakers is the American Ambassador to Nigeria, assuring the masses that the event will be graced by Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo, dignitaries, diplomatic communities and notable Nigerian leaders.
“We are also expecting professionals and experts to talk on skin cancer, eye care, socio-economic well-being and human rights issues. As we anticipate an insightful and successful event on the D-day, we wish to sincerely appreciate the efforts of all partners.” Jack said.
