The Chairman House committee on Disability Hon. Dr Bashiru Dawodu has assured Persons With Disabilities of complete inclusion, pledges commitment to PWD Act enforcement.
Dr Dawodu said during the world children’s day media parley with the theme, Every child, every right.
The Honorable Bashiru Dawodu expressed his gratitude towards the executives of the Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) and emphasized the importance of collaboration.
He said the discrimination against PWDs (Prohibition) Act, 2018, was enacted to ensure full participation and inclusion of people with disabilities in all sectors of the economy.
“The law prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability and imposes sanctions including fines and prison sentences on those who contravenes it.” He said.
Hon. Dawodu reassured the PWDs that his projects and agenda encompass provisions to cater to their specific needs. He emphasized that the establishment and success of the committee were in pursuit of a noble cause, which could only be achieved with their unwavering support.
He welcomed PWD members to approach his office at any time, pledging to maintain an open-door policy.
