A group, the Network of Women with Disabilities (NWD) has congratulated Chief Ayuba Gufwan on his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the new Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD).
In a statement signed by Lois Auta, the president on Wednesday, the network commended President Tinubu for this strategic appointment, which demonstrates his commitment to inclusion and the empowerment of persons with disabilities in Nigeria, especially girls and women with disabilities.
According to Auta, “Chief Gufwan’s wealth of experience and expertise in disability rights and advocacy make him an excellent fit for this critical role. We are confident that he will effectively lead the NCPWD to promote and protect the rights of persons with disabilities in Nigeria.
“We also take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to the outgoing Executive Secretary, Dr. James Lalu, for his dedication and service to the disability community. His contributions have been invaluable, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
“We look forward to working with Chief Gufwan and the NCPWD to advance the rights and inclusion of women with disabilities in Nigeria.” Auta said
