The General Manager of the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA), Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, participated in the Lagos State Care Policy Stakeholder Forum held at the Capital Club, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The high-level forum was convened by Caring Africa and the Nigerian Care Coalition in partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, alongside other key government and civil society stakeholders, to commence the development of a comprehensive Lagos State Care Policy.

The forum, themed “Building a Care-Responsive Lagos: Policy, Infrastructure, and Investment for a Growing Megacity,” brought together policymakers, development partners, and sector leaders to address key issues surrounding childcare, elder care, disability care, and the care workforce. Stakeholders stressed the need for Lagos, as a rapidly growing megacity, to strengthen systems that support vulnerable populations, including children, older persons, and persons with disabilities, while recognizing care as critical social and economic infrastructure.

Discussions featured keynote presentations, policy dialogues, and breakout sessions focusing on early childhood care, support for older persons and persons with disabilities, workforce development, and sustainable financing mechanisms.

Participants also deliberated on practical steps for policy adoption, including the creation of a costed action plan, pilot interventions, and inter-agency coordination frameworks to ensure effective implementation across Lagos State.

Mrs. Oyetunde-Lawal’s participation reaffirmed LASODA’s commitment to advancing inclusive policies and strengthening care and support systems for persons with disabilities and their caregivers in Lagos State.
