Deputy Speaker commends Uzidimma as Imo wins 59 medals at maiden Para Sports Games

The 2022 national sports festival for physically challenged persons which was held in Abuja has come and gone, with the Imo State para-athletes winning a total of 59 medals, of which there are 16 gold, 25 silver and 18 bronze. The Imo Team placed 6th on the Medals Table.

The Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly (IMHA), Rt. Hon. Sir Amarachi Chyna Iwuanyanwu, who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Sports, in reacting to the successful outing of the Imo Team to the games, commended the Executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, for his immense interest and investment in the development of Sports in the State.

While congratulating the representatives of the State at the championship for making the State proud, the very creative and productive Deputy Speaker noted that the governor showed special interest and commitment to ensuring the hitch-free participation of the State’s contingent to the national sports fiesta.

He stressed that the Special Athletes were heroes and heroines of sports in Imo State for earning fame and honour for the State, Rt. Hon. Amara Iwuanyanwu assured that his Committee will liaise with His Excellency, the Governor, to see that the winners and participants are appropriately rewarded.
