Members of delegates at the ongoing African Women Summit in Abuja, which was organised by COWAP, have rejected the man-representative of Sen. Aisha Alhassan, who was sent to deliver her goodwiill message, INN reports
Senator Alhassan, who is the Minister of Women Affairs, was supposed to deliver a goodwill message at the African Women Summit organized by COWAP at Sheraton Hotel,
Information available to INN claimed that the minster rather chose to send a male representative to deliver her goodwiill message which the women delegates rejected claiming that she ought to be at the gathering herself or better still send a woman representative.
While protesting, one of the women delegate member queried what on Earth the Minister could be doing elsewhere when the Vice President of Liberia, Jewel Howard -Taylor, showed up and inspired the crowd of over 1000 women! Even Prof. PLO Lumumba from Kenya got a standing ovation after his goodwill message, INN learnt
INN also gathered that the delegates whom are 99 percent women asked the representative of Sen. Alhassan to step down from the podium stating that he cannot speak on the Minister’s behalf.
Information gathered revealed that the Master of Ceremony, Matilda Duncan, could not placate the delegates to allow the Minister’s representative to deliver the Goodwill message. She consequently and angrily left the venue.
INN further learnt that the women delegates danced and merried when the visibly astounded and embarrassed representative, who was dressed in white Hausa attire, left the podium.
Another member of the delegates praised the unified and consensual decision of the women on the matter. She said, “Kudos to women, NO to unethical leadership, No to wrong delegation, is there no women in her team she could delegate?” She queried!
