The Nigeria National Association of the Deaf Youth section on Monday, 13th May, paid a courtesy visit to the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sport, in a bid to build on the existence collaboration with the Ministry as part of her numerous programs for the year 2024.
Speaking at the event, the NNAD National Youth Leader, Amb. Ebuka Okeke, appreciated the Ministry for her previous collaborative opportunities which according to him were pivotal in building an inclusive society for all.
Going further, he said we as an association deeply appreciate your Ministry for your continuous support, we look forward to more collaboration so that more and more of our people will be carried along in your various programs.
While reminding the Ministry of the existence section of the discrimination Act 2018 which mandated all Ministries, Departments, and agencies to set aside five percent employment slot for PWDs, he urged the Ministry to as a matter of importance try in their capacity to comply with the directives.
Mr Ebuka Okeke also tabled the following requests before the ministry, for support, which are the planned hosting of the 4th National Deaf Youths Summit slated for Ogun in September and the 47th board meeting of World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) Youth section which will be holding in Nigeria scheduled for August this year.
The director of social mobilization who was ably represented by Assistant Director Mr. Onikan Adedoyin assured the visitors of their continuous support, he highlighted areas of priorities in which the Ministry focus on and stressed that each of these sections are fully inclusive without discrimination.
He also advised NNADYS to make effort to register with the Ministry to pave ways for more opportunities. He assured that the issue of Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Ogun as well as that of the WFD hosting will be looked into.
