by Inclusive News Network

The Youth Section of the Nigeria National Association of the Deaf has visited the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Ismaila Abubakar, to seek intervention and support ahead of the 2nd National Deaf Youth Summit slated for September this year.

The visit was also aimed at building a collaborative relationship with the Ministry through the association’s department of networking and social mobilization.

The visiting team highlighted other areas where the Ministry’s support is needed as far as Deaf Nigerian youths are concerned – with specific emphasis on inclusion and equal opportunity.

The Permanent Secretary who was represented by Director of National Sports Festival and Para Sports, Mr Peter Nelson, assured of the Ministry’s continued support in the interest of Persons with Disabilities.

He remarked that the recently concluded National Para Game which took place in Brazil, and in which athletes of the Deaf Cluster participated is a good pointer to the Ministry’s commitment to inclusion of Persons with Disability. The group was also assured of continued inclusion of the Deaf Youth in the Ministry’s activities.
