The Association of Deaf Muslims of Nigeria (ADMUN) has sought the support of the Nasarawa State Disability Rights Commission (NSDRC) for its forthcoming zonal capacity building training scheduled to hold in Nasarawa State.
The request was made during a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Saleh Barde Keana, at the Commission’s headquarters in Lafia. During the visit, the ADMUN delegation formally informed the Chairman of its plans for the training, presented an official hosting letter, and appealed for the Commission’s support to ensure the successful implementation of the programme.
Responding, Hon. Keana assured the delegation of the Commission’s full support, noting that the initiative would receive the backing of the Nasarawa State Government. He stressed that the Commission’s mandate is to serve and protect the interests of all persons with disabilities across the state, regardless of disability type or religious affiliation.
The NSDRC Chairman also disclosed that the Commission is collaborating with the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities and the Peace For Humanity Foundation to establish a Farm City Centre in Nasarawa State.
According to him, the centre will focus on skills acquisition and economic empowerment for persons with disabilities. He further announced plans to include both the Association of Deaf Muslims and the Association of Deaf Christians among disability groups benefiting from the state’s monthly subvention.
Hon. Keana urged members of ADMUN to continue promoting peace, unity, and mutual understanding within the disability community and beyond. He encouraged them to pray for the peace and progress of Nigeria while supporting the disability-inclusive policies of Governor Abdullahi Sule.
