In a significant move to promote digital inclusion, the Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) wrapped up a two-month training programme designed to equip staff of the Institute of Skills Acquisition Centre for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Kano State with essential digital and administrative skills.
The training covered key areas including computer literacy, financial management, and proposal writing, empowering participants with tools critical for modern-day service delivery and self-reliance.
At the graduation ceremony, held at CITAD’s Kano office, the event drew participants from the state government, civil society, traditional leaders, and the media.
Speaking at the event, Senior Programme Officer Isah Garba, who represented the Executive Director, noted, “True inclusion means ensuring that people with disabilities are not left out of the digital transformation. This training is about more than skills; it’s about access, opportunity, and equity.”
Hamza Aminu Fagge, CITAD’s Programme Coordinator for PWDs, highlighted the Centre’s potential and urged greater support. “This centre delivers real impact and deserves backing. Societies show their strength not in how they treat the powerful, but in how they uplift the vulnerable,” he said.
Representing the Secretary to the State Government, Special Adviser on Digital and Creative Economy, Dr. Bashir Abdu Muzakkari, commended CITAD’s efforts. “Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf believes in inclusive governance and digital access for all. What we see here is a model of what’s possible through effective collaboration,” he added.
