- A “beautiful” mum and her scientist boyfriend have been named as the taxi passengers killed in the horror Birmingham underpass crash.
- Lucy Davis and Lee Jenkins, in their early 40s, had been out for dinner with pals before the tragedy struck in the early hours of Sunday.
- They were in the back of a cab which was hit by a high-powered Audi S3 which careered across the central reservation.
- Lucy, a sign language interpreter, and her boyfriend, who worked at University Hospital Birmingham, died instantly.
A “beautiful” mum and her scientist boyfriend have been named as the taxi passengers destroyed in the horror Birmingham underpass crash. Lucy Davis, 43, and Lee Jenkins, 42, had been for dinner with friends before the tragedy happened in the early hours of Sunday. They were in the back of a cab which was hit by a high-powered Audi S3 which careered across the central reservation. Lucy, a sign language interpreter, and her boyfriend, who worked at University Hospital Birmingham, died instantly.
Their driver, father-of-six Imtiaz Mohammed, 33, was also killed along with three occupants of the Audi.
They were named by relatives as Kasar Jehangir, 25, and pals Tauqeer Hussain, 26, and Mohammed Fasha, 30.
Lucy had been out for dinner with friends.
Audi passenger Zakkria Khan, 22, survived the smash but remains in a serious condition in hospital.
Lucy’s devastated sister Alison Worth, from Coventry, confirmed in a moving Facebook post that she had died.
She wrote this morning: “As some of you already know it was my beautiful kind lovely sister Lucy who died in the taxi.
“She and her boyfriend Lee had ended a lovely day and evening out with friends. Life is cruel.
“The pain we are enduring is almost unbearable. Please people be kind, as you never know what will happen next.
“They were in a taxi as they wouldn’t think of driving.
“They were wearing seat belts as Lulu wouldn’t get in a car if the seat belts didn’t work.
“They were happy. They were great together and had so many plans. You will always be in my heart and my thoughts. I miss you so much.”
Lucy’s childhood friend, Sally Davis, revealed they enjoyed a “lovely night” before the tragedy happened.She wrote on Facebook: “I was with them both hour half before it happened.
“She was happy; they were happy together. We had a lovely night.”

Lucy, from Sutton Coldfield, was a British Sign Language interpreter, while Lee was a highly-respected clinical scientist.
Her friend Audrey Whyte posted on Twitter: “The whole deaf community is mourning in Birmingham.”
She added: “My heart hurts for her young children, mum, friends and family.”
