The Bauchi State Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim, has described the victory of students from the Special Education Centre, Yelwa, at the National Girls in ICT Competition 2026 as clear evidence of the success of inclusive education policies in the state.
The students emerged winners of the national competition after impressing judges with their innovative project, “Hands That Speak,” a technology-driven solution designed to bridge communication gaps and promote inclusion for persons with hearing impairments. Their achievement stood out among entries from across the federation, earning Bauchi State national recognition.
Congratulating the students, their teachers, mentors, and parents, the Commissioner said the accomplishment demonstrates that every child can excel when provided with the necessary support, opportunities, and enabling environment. He noted that the victory validates the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring that learners with special needs are empowered to reach their full potential.
Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim also commended the Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, for his continued support for educational development and inclusive learning initiatives. He further expressed appreciation to Zee Tech Foundation for its mentorship, technical guidance, and support throughout the competition process.
The Commissioner described the students as an inspiration to young people across Nigeria, adding that their success reinforces the message that innovation, excellence, and leadership are achievable regardless of disability. He said the victory belongs not only to the students but also to Bauchi State and all stakeholders committed to advancing inclusive education and digital innovation.
