The Deaf International Football Association (DIFA) has officially announced details of the DIFA Deaf Football World Cup Australia 2027, with the tournament set to take place in Parramatta, Australia, from November 19 to December 4, 2027.
The global competition is expected to bring together the world’s top deaf football nations in a celebration of sporting excellence, inclusion, and international unity.
DIFA also unveiled the official medals for the tournament, which will be awarded to the top three teams in both the men’s and women’s competitions.
Each medal-winning delegation will receive 30 medals, distributed among 23 players and seven officials. The tournament will feature 24 men’s national teams and 16 women’s national teams competing for global honours.
To further raise the profile of deaf football, DIFA announced prize money for both competitions.
The men’s and women’s world champions will each receive $30,000, while runners-up will earn $20,000. Third-place teams will take home $10,000, while fourth-place finishers will receive $5,000. Participating national federations are required to pay a registration deposit of $5,000 by November 30, 2026, to secure their place in the tournament.
According to DIFA, the competition will be conducted under FIFA-standard rules and regulations to ensure fairness, professionalism, and transparency. The association will also implement a minimum hearing loss eligibility requirement of 55 decibels in each ear and introduce a new online audiogram management system to simplify player verification.
Organizers described the 2027 World Cup as a historic milestone for deaf football worldwide and expressed confidence that the event will strengthen international cooperation and showcase the talents of deaf athletes on the global stage.
