Anaocha Chairman Pledges Inclusion, Empowerment for Persons with Disabilities

The Executive Chairman of Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, Hon. Dr. Nnamdi Paulinus Okafor, has assured persons with disabilities in the council area of his administration’s commitment to their inclusion in empowerment and social support programmes.

Okafor gave the assurance during a meeting with casual workers and persons with disabilities in Anaocha LGA, where he listened to their concerns, challenges and expectations from his administration.

Addressing the persons with disabilities, the council chairman said they would not be left behind in his administration’s development agenda, stressing that they would be included in relevant empowerment and support programmes designed to promote their welfare, dignity and participation in the development of the local government.

He said the administration would work towards creating opportunities that would enable persons with disabilities to improve their livelihoods and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

The chairman also assured casual workers that their welfare and working conditions remained a priority, promising to increase their salaries and provide basic working tools and equipment needed for them to perform their duties effectively.

He urged the casual workers to remain committed to their responsibilities and ensure that the environment is kept clean, while calling on all stakeholders in Anaocha to work together towards the progress of the local government.

Okafor said listening directly to residents was essential to effective governance, assuring the groups that their concerns would receive the attention of his administration.

He reiterated his commitment to running a people-oriented and inclusive administration that would promote the welfare of all residents and ensure that no group is left behind in the delivery of the dividends of good governance.

Inclusive News Network reports that the meeting formed part of efforts by the Anaocha Local Government administration to engage different groups within the council area and address issues affecting their welfare and participation in local development.
